In this article I am going to present the basics about using a stepper motor with an Arduino Uno and an Adafruit clone stepper shield.
There are many kind of stepper motors around. From small ones that can be found in digital cameras to bigger ones that can move huge CNC machines back and forth. They usually come with 4, 6 or 8 wires, but they can have even more wires, and special techniques to rotate.
This is the easiest and cheapest example about using an Arduino. You need only an Arduino or compatible board and optionally an LED and a resistor. Most of the Arduino boards have an LED connected to the D13 pin.
How to enter the Arduino word? Before anything else we have to setup an environment where we do the coding. There are many options you can choose, about how you want to code the boards. In this post I am going to speak about two specific ways.
